Mel McManus - My surfing "romance" with Morocco began in 1973. From "top-to-bottom" (Tangier to Tan Tan. Started in the summer & ended in the early winter. Stoked with Assila, Mehdya Plage & all the breaks from Safi southwards. The only spot there were more than 2 of us out was Assila. All other breaks was me + 1, or just lil ol me!Taghazout was a scruffy little fishing village - poor a "church mice". But geographically the epicentre of world class breaks 1 hour north or south of it. Imsouane/Cathedrals, Anchors, Hash-Point north. Anzak, 11 & 12 southwards. I went back to Taghazout last December (Surf Berbere surf-camp). What a blast for a 71 yrs "young" surf-freak. For the week I was there I was in Utopia. Everywhere worked whilst I was on my "pilgrimage"! Thank you Morocco!
